December 6-10

This week's word families are 'am' and 'at'.  Here are some examples:

We are learning about story retelling in Language Arts, Fairy Tales and using words such as "first, then, next and finally". There are 20 different versions of the GIngerbread Boy. We have read two.

Sight word lists will be sent home soon. These are words that need to be memorised  (avoid sounding out) and make up 78% of what we read and write. A letter with activity ideas will be sent home.

In Math we are continuing to work to count to 100 by 1s, skip count to 100 by 2s, 10s, and 5s!  We have also started addition and understanding the concept of addition +0 and +1. 

In Social studies we have been talking about the responsibilities at home and at school. We will work towards talking about what our rights are. This is hard learning for our little learners.

In Science we are wrapping up talking about our 5 senses and  Fall. We will be diving into learning about colours, hot and cold and Winter in January.

In Health we have learned about growth mindset and are learning about the five food groups. (Go, Grow and Glow foods).

Our Physical Education unit has been focused around hockey stick handling skills. We are getting really good at dribbling.
